The AmWINS Group, Inc. ("AmWINS") Board of Directors has unanimously elected Rupert Atkin as an independent director. Mr. Atkin is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Talbot Underwriting Ltd. and previously served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2007 until 2016. Mr. Atkin served as Chairman of the Lloyd's Market Association from 2012 until 2015, became a member of the Council of Lloyd's in 2006 and became Deputy Chairman of Lloyd's in February 2014 until January 2016.
"We are delighted to be able to attract someone of Rupert's stature in the London market to our Board. In addition to his broad insurance leadership experience, Rupert brings a unique entrepreneurial perspective," stated M. Steven DeCarlo, CEO of AmWINS.
"Rupert will be a valuable resource as we continue to execute on our global strategy," said Stuart Szabo, Senior Director, Private Equity at PSP Investments and AmWINS Board member.
"I have tremendous respect for what the team at AmWINS has built and look forward to working with them to continue building the specialty insurance distribution platform," said Atkin.
Mr. Atkin is replacing outgoing independent director Martin Reith. Earlier this year, Mr. Reith accepted the role of Group Chief Executive of Neon Underwriting Limited. "Martin's counsel and direction were invaluable during his time on the board and we look forward to working with him in his new role," said DeCarlo.
