AmWINS Group Benefits Launches Voluntary Benefits Practice

Practice leader recognized for achievements in risk management and insurance

AmWINS Group Benefits, a leading wholesale distributor of employee benefits and professional services, today announced the launch of a Voluntary Benefits Practice. The Voluntary Benefits Practice will offer supplemental benefits to benefit professionals and their clients including life, dental, vision, accident, short-term disability, critical illness, cancer and medical gap insurance. The Voluntary Benefits Practice will specialize in coverage solutions for employer groups with 50 to 1,000 lives, and also works with groups managing up to 200,000 lives.

In addition to the new product offerings, AmWINS Group Benefits will also provide ancillary support services with proper plan administration, customer service, benefits communication, web-based technology, call center support and use of enrollment counselors. “With more employers moving to high deductible health plans, many of the traditional core benefits are being eliminated,” said Sam Fleet, President of AmWINS Group Benefits. “We are pleased to offer these additional coverage options to our customers as complementary benefits in an effort to help today’s employers attract and retain their best talent.”

The Voluntary Benefits Practice will be led by Robert Shestack, who joined AmWINS Group Benefits earlier this year. Shestack previously held the positions of managing director and national practice leader at two Marsh & McLennan businesses, Marsh US Consumer and Marsh & McLennan Agency The Trion Group.

“Recent changes to employee health plans demand innovative new approaches, and our new voluntary benefits practice shows that we are laser focused on finding creative solutions, including our new customized enrollment strategies and product mixes,” Shestack said. “The introduction of these additional coverage options is indicative of the way AmWINS Group Benefits is continually looking for a better way to educate our customers and facilitate the enrollment of core and voluntary benefits.”

Shestack earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in actuarial science and mathematics from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. In April 2013, Shestack was awarded the school’s H. Wayne Snider Distinguished Alumni Award in Risk Management & Insurance. This prestigious honor is presented annually to a Temple University Fox School Alumnus or Alumnae who majored in risk management and insurance at the undergraduate or graduate level and has distinguished himself or herself for at least 20 years.
